What's the best soil for tomatoes?

Tomato compost from asda!

Watering and feeding is more important than compost!

Tomatoes are happy in just about any kind of compost, they can easily be grown outside in your garden soil.

The tomato compost I have been using this year is the asda professional compost range as it was on offer! But anything from Asda, B&Q, Homebase. Wilkinson etc will be fine. If you don't mind spending a bit on your tomatoes you could try a loam based compost which is more like soil – something like John Innes number 2 would be great, but be warned it going to cost you a fair bit more than the asda stuff!

If you fancy being a bit creative why not have a go at making your own tomato compost blend, take some of the cheaper supermarket compost mix in some sand or topsoil and add some organic fertiliser – I use chicken manure but it's up to you – let me know how you get on with the comment button below.
